A fine white porcelain figure of a standing long-haired dachshund by the Allach porcelain manufactory.
The model is identified as Allach model no. 75, known as “Langhaardackel, stehend” / “Long-Haired Dachshund, standing”. The design is attributed to Ottmar Obermaier, one of the sculptors whose animal models were produced by Allach in the late 1930s.
The figure is modelled with a long body, short legs, hanging ears and carefully rendered long coat. The glossy white glaze gives the sculpture a clean and elegant appearance, while the modelling captures the characteristic posture and expression of the dachshund.
Allach porcelain was produced in Germany during the 1930s and 1940s. The manufactory became known for high-quality animal figures, presentation pieces and decorative porcelain. Because of its historical context, Allach porcelain is collected today both as decorative porcelain and as a specific historical collecting field.
