A finely crafted example of a tabarzin, the traditional Indo-Persian saddle axe associated with both warfare and ceremonial display. Widely used across Persia and the Indian subcontinent, this distinctive form, often carried by cavalry, features the elegant crescent-shaped blade characteristic of the type.
The present piece is forged entirely in steel and richly engraved throughout. The axe head is adorned with intricate vegetal scrollwork, stylized floral motifs and finely executed arabesque borders, reflecting the refined decorative vocabulary of Indo-Persian metalwork.
