Description

Imperial Russian Officer’s Shashka (Model 1913)

Maker: Peter Daniel Lüneschloss Waffen-Fabrik, Solingen
Markings: Double-headed Imperial Eagle and “N II” monogram
Scabbard: Original metal scabbard with twin suspension rings

A fine and scarce Imperial Russian officer’s shashka, Model 1913, fitted with a German-manufactured blade by Peter Daniel Lüneschloss Waffen-Fabrik, Solingen. Produced shortly before World War I for officers of the Imperial Russian cavalry under Tsar Nicholas II, this example combines refined Solingen craftsmanship with distinct Russian Imperial symbolism.

The gently curved, single-edged blade with triple fullers is etched on one side with the Imperial double-headed eagle, and on the reverse with the monogram “N II” beneath the Imperial crown, representing Emperor Nicholas II. The ricasso bears the maker’s mark: “Peter Daniel Lüneschloss Waffen-Fabrik Solingen”, accompanied by the company’s sword-and-scales emblem.

The bakelite hilt, shaped in the classic shashka form with a beaked pommel, retains its original fittings and surface finish. The weapon is accompanied by its original metal scabbard with two suspension rings, showing honest age wear and patina while remaining complete and structurally sound.
