This large and heavy high-quality dagger, likely of French origin from the Romantic period, features a stunning silver-plated brass grip adorned with intricate mythological detailing. The hilt depicts a woman holding a dagger, her hair and feet entwined with serpents, symbolizing danger and allure. The blade, crafted from nickel-plated steel, boasts a robust drop-point design with three fullers (grooves) on each side for enhanced balance. Despite minor surface corrosion, the blade remains unsharpened, preserving its original edge.
The dagger comes with its original black leather scabbard, embellished with finely detailed metal fittings. Notably, the chape (bottom fitting) appears to have additional or unfinished decorative elements, adding to its unique character.
